TRAINING
The KSCBS in collaboration with Calamus international University offers full time, part time, Distance (correspondence) and block release courses in counseling. The courses offered include:
CERTIFICATE COURSES
Certificate in Psychological Counseling (160 hours full time and part-time).
This course is available to professionals who use counseling skills in their day to day work who intend to enhance their work.
Certificate in Guidance and Counseling. (160 hours full time and part-time).
This course is available to teachers and parents who us counseling skills in their work to cater for students and pupils
Certificate in Medical Health Counseling. (160 hours full time and part-time).
This course is available for nurses, medical practitioners; clinical officers who intend to develop skills and competence in health counseling to enhance their work with patients/clients
Certificate in Counseling Supervision. (160 hours full time and part-time).
This course is available for counselors who intend to train as Counselor Supervisors in educational settings as well as in psychological services
ToT/ToF Certificate in Counseling Education. (160 hours full-time and part-time). This course is available to counselors who are involved in the training of counselors in various types of counseling related courses
DIPLOMA COURSES
Diploma in Marriage and Family Therapy. (One year part-time).
This course is available for counselors who intend to work as marriage and family therapists.
Diploma in Guidance and Counseling. (One year part-time). This course is available for teachers and other professionals who intend to obtain a professional qualification in Guidance and Counseling
This course is also available by Distance learning
Diploma in Medical Health Counseling. (One year part-time). This course is available for professional working in health care who intend to obtain a professional qualification in counseling.
HIGHER DIPLOMA COURSES
Higher Diploma in Psychological Counseling. (16 months).
This course is available to professionals who intend to work Psychological counselors in various contexts.
Higher Diploma in Guidance and Counseling. (16 months part-time).
This course is available for teacher, college tutors and lecturers who intend to obtain a professional qualification in Guidance and counseling
This course is also available by distance learning.
Higher Diploma in Pastoral Care and Christian Counseling.
This is a 16 months part-time or block classes available to Church workers, Social workers, Counselors, Psychologists. Health Workers or Teachers who intend to develop skills and competence
Providing counseling services in Christian context.
Higher Diploma in Medical Health and Psychological Counseling
This is a 16 months part-time course for health workers and other human services professionals (e. g. Social Workers) who work in medical settings. It is aimed at equipping practicing counselors with skills, knowledge and competencies in psychological care of patients.
Higher Diploma in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Two year (part-time). This course is available to counselor trainers who intend to acquire knowledge and develop skills and competencies in counselor training to enhance their teaching and supervision practice.
Higher Diploma in Marriage, Child and Family Therapy
(Two year part-time). This course is aimed at training counselors /therapists who intend to specialize in family work.
Higher Diploma in Industrial and Organizational Psychology.
This course is suitable for human resources managers, personnel officers, counselors, psychologists and other human service professionals who intend to obtain a professional qualification in industrial psychology.
Higher Diploma in Forensic Psychology and Criminology.
This is the area of applied psychology which applies psychological principles, theories and concepts to the understanding of criminal behavior. The Course focuses on forensic investigation offender rehabilitation and security management.
